PlaytestCloud is a platform that makes playtesting and games user research easy so game studios can make games players love. We solved all the problems that stop studios from playtesting like they should—recruiting, scheduling, logistics, recording, transcribing, distribution and data compiling—and added data security, GDPR compliance, automated analysis and a quality guarantee! Half of the mobile games grossing $5b+ were tested on our platform, and 60% of the studios behind the App store top 100 are our customers. Our global panel of players (1.5M+, mostly based in the US, CA and UK) represent all demographics, gaming levels, platforms and interests, so we definitely have your players. We’re the only playtesting platform fully COPPA certified to safely test with kids aged 3-15. Our approach to ethical treatment of our playtesters is unique in our industry: unlike other playtesting companies, our players are paid in real money, not gift cards or points, and they’re paid the exact same rate no matter where they are in the world—often double the rate of other providers. We’re passionate about helping studios make games players love, and generously sharing knowledge and experience for better games user research. Our in-house researchers support and train teams globally to improve FTUE, player retention, game mechanics and churn.

    Chicken Churn 🐓👋🏻 Anyone else really wanna see this chicken? 👀

    This one is gonna go down in history as the Chicken Churn! Yesterday we got a colorful inbound message on Intercom from a tester, they were really worked up at a game that made a chicken noise when they didn’t accept a rematch with another player in a PvP game, and they noped right out of a paid playtest! (what an insight!!) Curiosity, bias to action, intuition or whatever you want to call it kicked in and I decided to check out the recording 👀 My own biases of who that player was were totally off, and their reaction in the video didn’t really match up to the message. But sure enough they had asked the community team to be removed from the test. After watching the video I was stunned at how natural that churn point felt, obviously we made the call to pay the player out and sent it to the Erez free of charge (it’s 7 minutes long), then got a lovely email back this morning! When Christian and Marvin onboarded me they made sure to communicate their vision of happy customers and it's great to see this playing out and confirmed! #playtesting #PlaytestCloud #GamesUserResearch #Retention #GameDevelopment #CustomerFirst

    Remember Rock Tunnel in Pokémon Blue? Get in there and the visible world shrinks to only seeing the walls, then you stupidly proceed and get attacked by Zubats and Geodudes, you’re like 7 years old and just want to get to Lavender Town. Pretty horrible experience all round. (You don’t even know about the feels that are coming once you climb the tower there). The good folks at 株式会社ゲームフリーク(GAME FREAK inc.)did give you three lifelines though: HM01 - Flash Repel Escape Ropes I can draw a lot of parallels to many games studios who are only seeing those walls when it comes to doing research, and not using their lifelines. Many are trying to get through the cave in the risky fashion, with no lifelines at all and not running any research; they don't know their market, they don't know their players, and they're relying on their own intuition to validate design choices. Others are using flash and learning way more about their surroundings, but not using repel to reduce the risks and escape ropes to yeet out of some sticky situations. Stick with me. This format has a similar shape to common #LunchAndLearn sessions but with a focus on understanding more about the different cultures of our wonderful colleagues. We use this format in a #hybrid setting, with colleagues listening to the stories both in the office and remotely from their current work locations (at PlaytestCloud, we prioritize #remote-first work and also operate abroad).
