The Healthcare Crisis: A Call for Innovation 🚨 The healthcare sector is facing an unprecedented crisis. By 2035, we could see a shortage of around 1.8 million specialists, according to a study by PWC. This isn't just a German issue; it's a global emergency. 🏥 Our client, MIA Video GmbH, an innovative start-up, has developed a solution to this crisis: explanatory videos that streamline doctor-patient communication, ensuring patients are well-informed before their appointments. 📽 The result? Information sessions cut down from 27 minutes to just 6, allowing for more personalised care. 🗣️💬 Paul Romanski, a specialist in internal and emergency medicine and founder of MIA Video, emphasises that comprehensive and respectful medical care is a patient's right. “It's time for innovative approaches to uphold this right and support our healthcare workers," he said. 🩺 💡 This innovative solution could help reduce the pressure on healthcare professionals and improve patient care at the same time. It’s a step in the right direction to help tackle the challenges of the skills shortage in the healthcare sector. We are mourning the loss of our former Management Board member Frank Strauss, who died last week at the age of 54. Strauss was CEO of Postbank for six years and a member of the Management Board of Deutsche Bank for two years. "It is with dismay and deep sadness that I and many Deutsche Bank colleagues learned of the premature death of Frank Strauss," said CEO Christian Sewing. "Over a span of nearly 30 years at Deutsche Bank and Postbank, he served with great merit, especially in our retail banking business. He was a valued colleague to many of us and to me personally. We will honour Frank Strauss’ memory. Our thoughts are with his wife, children and loved ones at this difficult time." Strauss spent a large part of his professional life at Deutsche Bank. After completing his training as a bank clerk in Iserlohn, he came to Frankfurt in 1995, where he worked in various management positions at Deutsche Bank and its former subsidiary Deutsche Bank 24. In 2006, he took over the management of the private and business customer division in the German home market. In 2011, he then moved to Postbank as its Management Board member responsible for sales and, a year later, he became CEO. From 2017 to 2019, he was a member of the Deutsche Bank Management Board and oversaw private and corporate banking, initially together with Sewing and, after the latter’s appointment as CEO, from April 2018 alone.

🇪🇸 We’re celebrating 135 years of Deutsche Bank in Spain! While 1979 marks the first time that Deutsche Bank opened a branch in the country with its own name, the history of Deutsche Bank in Spain dates back to 1889, when the Spanish-German Bank (Banco Hispano-Alemán) was established with the aim of promoting commercial and financial relations between Spain and Germany. 🤝 💡 The bank’s first project was the financing of public lighting in Madrid (1889), which had been won in concession by the German group AEG (Allgemeine Elektrizitäts Gesellschaft). In 1904, the bank established the German Transatlantic Bank in Barcelona, in order to support European companies in their international projects, especially in Latin America, an objective that remains part of the bank's DNA. Did you know? Deutsche Bank was one of the pioneering banks in Spain to launch Internet banking. In 1996 it opened the db-line channel, making it easier for its customers to access their accounts and products. 🌐 Inigo Martos, CEO of Deutsche Bank Spain said: “For 135 years we have been part of the evolution of the Spanish economy and its interconnection with the rest of the world, with deep dedication, we have accompanied customers, institutions, employees and society in general in its development. Our commitment remains unwavering to the prosperity and financial security of our customers, while we look to the future with a vocation for European leadership, excellence, profitability and service to society.” 👥 With a team of 2,300 employees, the bank currently serves more than 500,000 private customers in Spain. Today, it is the only international entity that participates in the Spanish economy with all the services of a global bank. #DeutscheBank #Spain #Anniversary #History

With great sadness, we learnt of the passing of Rolf-E. Breuer – CEO of Deutsche Bank from 1997 to 2002 and Chairman of the Supervisory Board from 2002 to 2006. During his time as CEO, Deutsche Bank completed its largest acquisition. The takeover of Bankers Trust in 1999 significantly strengthened the bank’s position in the US and on international capital markets. Alexander Wynaendts, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bank, paid tribute to his achievements: "Rolf Breuer’s importance for Deutsche Bank cannot be overestimated. With the acquisition of Bankers Trust, he made a significant contribution to building a Deutsche Bank that can now support its clients worldwide in all financial matters, with the necessary global network and expertise. With Rolf Breuer, Deutsche Bank is losing one of its most influential personalities. My thoughts are with his wife and family." Our CEO, Christian Sewing, said: “I remember Rolf Breuer as an 'old school' banker in the best sense of the word, with a classic appearance, but also with enormous strategic vision. Above all, big clients and international business were close to his heart, because he saw them as the basis for a strong German economy. Both areas grew significantly in his time. And with his promotion of our financial centre, he also made an important contribution to the positive development of the economy as a whole.” Our thoughts are with his wife and family.

A strong Europe needs ... innovation! 💡🇪🇺 Europe is facing a choice of direction: from June 6 to 9, around 350 million people will be called to the booths to vote for the next European Parliament. From the war in Ukraine to the shift to the far right in many EU member states, the environment is challenging. We are strongly committed to a strong, democratic, and united Europe. And we believe that a strong Europe has many advantages for all of us. Until the elections, we will showcase some of these advantages by sharing some client stories and their view on Europe. Today: FERNRIDE, a Munich-based start-up from UnternehmerTUM that has developed technologies and software for autonomous driving. Several large logistics and transport companies are already using them on-site. Their business case: Germany has a shortage of truck drivers – around 70,000 in the freight sector according to the Federal Association of German Bus and Coach Operators (BDO), with no improvement in sight. Every year, 30,000 drivers retire but only 15,000 join the industry. FERNRIDE believes that autonomous trucks can be the solution. However, they also need an innovative friendly European environment to succeed. Hendrik Kramer, co-founder and CEO of FERNRIDE, talks about when we will see self-driving trucks on our roads, how the job profile might change and what the advantages are of founding a logistics start-up in Europe: https://lnkd.in/dZgX2m_4 Let's play our part in shaping Europe's future and vote. Together, we can build a stronger, more sustainable, more united and innovative Europe. 🗳️ #UseYourVote #EuropeMatters #EuropeanElections2024 #DeutscheBank
