👋 Hi everyone! Who's feeling stuck juggling Trello and Google Sheets? 🤹‍♀️ Tell us how you move your data between them!

Are you more likely to:
➡️ Send Sheets data to Trello
⬅️ Pull Trello info into a sheet?

If you're copy-pasting details back and forth, there's a much easier way.

Whether you're:
💸 Reporting to stakeholders
📬 Dispatching tasks to external contacts, or
👀 Overseeing work in several boards from a single space:

Here's a guide to setting up a real-time 2-way integration between Trello and Google Sheets in ~15 minutes.

Step 1: Get the Board Sync Power-Up from the Trello Marketplace

➡️ Here's a link to Board Sync by Unito.

Next, open any Trello board in your workspace and select Board Sync.

Click Authorize and follow the on-screen instructions in the pop-up that appears.

From your Trello board, click Board Sync again, then Create flow.

Step 2: Set Up The Google Sheets Add-On to Sync with Unito

Open a new tab and get Unito Spreadsheet Sync from the Google Workspace Marketplace. The add-on is necessary to push or pull data between Google Sheets and other tools.

Step 3: Connect Trello and Google Sheets to Unito

Back in Unito's flow builder, select the Trello board you plan to sync and connect your Google account.

You can use a new sheet, an existing sheet, or this Google Sheets template we set up for project managers. If you create a new sheet, Unito can auto-populate your header row with the names of each Trello field.

Switch over to Google Sheets and open the Unito add-on:

Select Unito Spreadsheet Sync, then Open Unito, and Insert the two columns in this sheet.

Once the two columns: UnitoID and Last Modified are present in your header row, you can verify the add-on in Unito:

Step 4: Pick a flow direction for creating rows or Trello cards automatically

Flow direction determines how new rows or cards are created but not modified. We’ll decide how real-time updates occur in step 6.

In this example, a one-way flow from Trello to Google Sheets will create rows based on my cards, but not vice versa. Updates will still sync bi-directionally as my team makes changes.

Step 5: Set rules to filter some Trello cards from syncing (optional)

Rules can help you keep only the most relevant information in sync to avoid oversharing unnecessary details.

By applying your Trello labels, you can be even more precise about what kind of data is shared with Google Sheets.

In this example, our demo flow will sync all Trello cards in our board to Google Sheets:

Step 6: Link fields between Trello and Google Sheets

This step lets you set a relationship between Trello card fields and rows in Google Sheets based on your header row. If you're working in a new sheet, you'll be prompted to auto-populate your header row with the names of each Trello field (including custom fields!). Otherwise, you'll have to link them manually.

Click +Add mapping to create a new pair of linked fields, then click Select a field for each tool, and find the appropriate field to map. See below for an example:

The directional arrows indicate which direction updates will occur. In the above example, each field is set to a 1-way sync direction, which means if I make a change in Trello, those changes will appear in my sheet.

But if I edit any details in my sheet, the Trello card will be unaffected.

The only exception is Link to row from Google Sheets (which creates a hyperlink to my spreadsheet from each synced Trello card).
