Unblock user invites to Jira with our new unsent invitations audit

Hey Community

Since we launched our resend invite capability within the User management screen, we know many of you have been hoping for a way to resend invitations to established users. That day has arrived! 🙌

Unblock user invites is a new feature within the Jira system settings. It provides an audit of undelivered invitation emails, detailing the reasons why they didn’t make it to their recipient. In cases where Atlassian has suppressed emails due to on-going delivery failure, you’ll see an option to Resend invite. This will connect you to the admin.atlassian.com user management screen to complete the resend invitation action. From there, invitations will generally be issued within one hour.

By using these features together, you’ll have a handle on undelivered invitations, and a way to get your team up and running without the need for contacting Atlassian Support.

This is just the first step in a body of work to assist with email suppression impacts across a range of Jira notification types.

As always, we welcome your feedback 💙

I have got only "Permission helper" under "Admin Helper" and can not find "Unblock user invites" option there under system settings.

Hi @Brijesh Pathak thanks for your comment and for sharing the excitement of this release, the feature is still progressively rolling out and so you may see it within the next 24 hours.

Let us know if you don't see by same time tomorrow and we will be happy to help :)

Hi @Megha  - I see a lot of invited users on the list with this error in the Details:

Error from email provider: 550 5.4.1 Recipient address rejected: Access denied.

Is it just a matter of needing to re-invite these people if we see this error?

Regards

Hi @Matt Lane that error usually means that the outbound mail to that email address is being rejected and it could be due to many reasons, most common for new users tend to be that their mailboxes don't exist yet, and so when you invite them to Jira you encounter this error.

My recommendation would be to confirm the mailbox exists and is receiving other email and then go ahead and resend the invite, it should work. Let us know how you go :)

Hi @mohamedrabeek_j @Martin T_ if you are on bundled release tracks, the feature may not be available for you yet. Let us know if you are on continuous releases and still cannot see it ?

Martin T_ June 14, 2024

We are on bundled release track, so I will keep on waiting.

For me  "Unblock user invites" was not visible, but after I cleared browser cache, and clicked few times on Mail and Admin helper options it showed up.

mohamedrabeek_j June 14, 2024

No, still, I'm not able to see this

mohamedrabeek_j June 14, 2024

I was wondering if the users who were resent and did get the resent invite, can be cleared from the list. I tested for one user and now it shows "Invitation Resent." But it does not clear them, if they were able to get the resent invite. I will wait a bit longer and refresh.

Will this work for "Portal-only customers" as well?
