Research Security
CIFAR is committed to ensuring that research security is a central tenet in building a strong interdisciplinary and global research ecosystem
In 2021, the Government of Canada issued its Research Security Policy Statement, outlining the importance of research security in advancing world-class research in Canada. The statement called upon all members of the country’s research community to undertake precautions in safeguarding Canadian research knowledge and intellectual property.
CIFAR recognizes the importance of research security in maintaining the integrity of Canada’s global and interdisciplinary research ecosystem. As such, CIFAR — in consultation with its industry, academic and government partners — has implemented a host of measures to ensure that strong, responsible and open research is balanced with the interests of national security. CIFAR will continue to review and update its research security measures on an ongoing basis to address rapidly advancing changes in this arena.
