Join RCCbc in celebrating #NationalIndigenousHistoryMonth this June! 🦅 We honour and recognize the rich history, culture, resilience and accomplishments of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities. June 21 marks National Indigenous Peoples Day, a day of particular significance as it coincides with the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, celebrated by many Indigenous peoples and communities.⁠ ⁠ At RCCbc, we’re a physician-led network dedicated to improving rural health, we’re also committed to elevating Indigenous voices and creating safe spaces for them to be seen and heard. We engage in daily reflection, unlearning, learning and meaningful action, working towards reconciliation and advancing Indigenous health in rural communities. With team members located throughout the province, we aim to make meaningful impact by building capacity in rural, remote, and Indigenous communities, aiming to close health equity gaps. ⁠ ⁠ We encourage you to join the celebration by engaging with and learning about the diverse Indigenous cultures and exploring the resources within your community to deepen your understanding and appreciation of Indigenous history, resilience, and contributions. Dr. Stephen Ayosanmi's journey, beginning in Nigeria, led him to the beautiful community of Clearwater via PRA-BC. It is hard to believe that it has only been 10 months since he completed the PRA-BC assessment process (PRA-BC 2023).   Along with his wife and four children, Dr. Ayosanmi is already embracing their new life in the beautiful North Thompson region. “My wife likes Clearwater also because people are so friendly, it’s so beautiful here."   Dr. Ayosanmi became a family physician more than 13 years ago in Nigeria. Join the Finding Your Way workshop on June 19 for a two-hour participatory and interactive virtual educational session focused on the eight elements of high-functioning teams with Drs. Cecile Andreas and Rahul Gupta. Discover the attributes, skills, and tools of high-functioning interprofessional teams and the critical role of developing psychological safety as a foundation of healthy teams. Participants will then be supported to design an action plan for strengthening psychological safety within the team they work with on a day-to-day basis. We have an exciting new role for a Primary Care Networks (PCN) Manager — a leader who will support the implementation and ongoing operation of the two new Thompson Region Primary Care Networks.
