🤝 Today is the World Refugee Day, the international day to honour people who have been forced to flee. We champion their right to seek safety, build support for their economic and social inclusion, and advocate for solutions to their plight. We want to see legal, safe and secure access to asylum in the EU. The integration standards and policies for refugees among EU countries are hugely diverging and this is one of the reasons why the EU asylum system remains dysfunctional. You can find out more in our report “The European Benchmark for refugee integration: A Comparative analysis of the National Integration Evaluation Mechanism in 14 EU Countries” ▶ bit.ly/46rDQ00 To help national and local public authorities, and civil society organisations to better include and integrate refugees, Migration Policy Group in partnership with the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, produced a handbook “Effective Inclusion of Refugees: participatory approaches for practitioners at the local level” packed with practical guidance and advice. ▶ bit.ly/4cs6Re9 European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE) Platform for Undocumented Migrants (PICUM) Red Cross EU Office International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) Eurocities International Rescue Committee EU

🎉 Today, we held the experts workshop for our project Tackling Structural & Institutional Racism in 8 EU Member States (Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Greece, Romania, Czechia, and Latvia). Organised by MPG and with the support of Robert Bosch Stiftung, this initiative fosters strong collaboration and synergy among researchers, civil society organisations, and racialised communities at the national level to combat structural and institutional racism. 📹 Watch our Director Isabelle Chopin speaking about the purpose of this event in the video below. Carmine Conte, PhD, our Senior Policy Analyst, presented the key findings of the comparative research on structural racism in the 8 countries involved in the project, followed by Valerie Duquette from the Mission of Canada to the EU, who shared insights on learning from Canada's experiences. We also had interactive roundtable discussions with our country experts on key challenges regarding structural racism. 🌍 Together with our partners, we are committed to come up with key legal and policy recommendations for both the national and European level to fight structural racism.
