Policing and Climate Change | Global Crime Governance | Associate Professor @ ANU RegNet | Associate Editor Policing & Society
My new essay (co-authored with Clifford Shearing and Maegan J. Miccelli) in Policing & Society articulates a vision for ‘#adaptivepolicing’ in a climate crisis. We argue that #police practitioners and researchers must urgently consider how emerging and existential hazards associated with #climatechange may impact the #regulation and protection of social order around the world. Aligning the mentalities, functions, and capabilities of #policing institutions and networks with ‘whole-of-society’ or systemic attempts to promote ‘#adaptivegovernance’ is vital for governing #security in the #Anthropocene. The essay is free to download (#openaccess) so please repost and share it with colleagues in your networks who might be interested.

My article with Christian Downie in Review of International Political Economy is now open access! We explore the forces driving trade credit for energy. This article serves as the basis for our ongoing research agenda, for which more will be forthcoming soon. Should be of interest to anyone interested in the energy transition, trade, security, and development. https://lnkd.in/dZBzZcDJ

“From the ashes of the referendum, we now find ourselves in a movement for change," - Scientia Professor Megan Davis. 🖤💛❤️ What comes next for First Nations public policy after the 2023 Voice referendum failed? 📚 These questions were considered by Scientia Professor Megan Davis when she shared her insights at the inaugural First Nations Women in Public Policy Lecture hosted by our Crawford School of Public Policy. Professor Helen Sullivan, Dean of our College, and Janine O'Flynn, Director of our Crawford School, were in attendance and added significant weight to the importance of this event for both our College and The Australian National University. As we come together for National Reconciliation Week, we honour and celebrate the history, cultures, and contributions of Australia's First Nations peoples. Together, we strive to build meaningful relationships and create a more inclusive society. Through education, research, and dialogue, we endeavor to amplify Indigenous voices, champion reconciliation efforts, and contribute to positive change. 👉 Read the full story and more about our commitment to amplifying Indigenous voices and perspectives in public policy here: https://lnkd.in/gzBEhPkv #ouranu #anucap #IndigenousPolicy #VoiceToParliament #PublicPolicy #NRW2024 #ReconciliationWeek
