Another fantastic Digital Brand Building + LinkedIn workshop with the students and staff at The Women’s College within The University of Queensland! We've been working with The Women's College for six years now and it's always such a pleasure to work with interesting young women studying across such a broad range of industries. I look forward to keeping in touch on #LinkedIn and seeing where your careers take you! Thank you Emma Campbell for inviting me to deliver the session!
This week, our students delved into the world of LinkedIn during a dynamic Ready to Lead workshop led by Sally Dwyer from Be Social. Be Smart. From novices to seasoned users, students honed their online professional presence in preparation for the upcoming Women’s Industry Night on Tuesday 21 May where they will connect with organisations to discuss and explore specific industries. #winningwithWIN Video by Communications Representative Tess Feller Tara Lavery Allegra Daveson claire asquith Kira Craig Jill Campbell

What a fantastic day working with Timothy Barraud and the leadership team at Balmoral State High School! Our workshops today empowered the team to build their own individual digital brands, create and align content with the school vision and purpose, and work collectively to create a school mission statement to take out to their community. Great things are ahead for Balmoral and we look forward to following along on #LinkedIn! #educationalleadership #brandsforeducators #schoolbranding #LinkedInforschools #workshops #professionaldevelopment #professionaldevelopmentforteachers

Today is #saferinternetday. There are so many considerations when thinking about how we can encourage and educate on the safer use of the internet, particularly for young people. At Be Social. Be Smart., our goal is to build on the vitally important information that students receive in primary and junior high school years around safety, privacy and bullying, and start educating them on the positive, proactive and purposeful use of #digitalplatforms to help them build their brand online. Here are a couple of tips on how to start helping our young people to use social media for a safe and #succcessful future. #safesocialmedia #socialmediaeducation #socialmediaforstudents #digitalbrandbuilding #digitalportfolios

One of the challenges of #socialmedia for teens is getting them to shift their mindset. As digital natives, they have grown up using socials as a way to communicate, engage and connect with their peers. However, by educating them on the ways in which social media can be used as a tool for career, we open up endless possibilities for their futures. At Be Social. Be Smart., our engaging year level presentations for Years 10 and 11 take a positive approach to social media education. We build on the important education they have already received around safety and privacy, and start shifting the conversation from the ‘should nots’, to the ‘shoulds’. We focus on the opportunities that can be created if social media is used positively, proactively and purposefully to showcase skills and achievements to potential employers. And we introduce them to #LinkedIn, so they can get a head start on building their professional digital portfolio before they hit the world of work! #digitalbrandbuilding #socialmediaeducation #digitalportfolio #socialmediaforcareer #students #presentations #workshops #schools #digitalnatives

What do think is the best way for students to showcase their education, skills, experience and achievements in their senior years and post-school? We think #LinkedIn in an excellent platform to introduce students to in their seniors years as students can to continue to grow their profile as their skills and experience grow. Check out a few words from our founder Sally on #LinkedInforstudents below. #skillsdevelopment #LinkedIn #learnerprofile #skillsprofile #careerdevelopment

In a rapidly changing education landscape, students at both a high school and tertiary levels are increasingly able to access new opportunities for learning and upskilling. From certs offered by RTOs, Tafe courses and microdential courses offered in schools to shorts courses and skills based programs being offered through universities and other tertiary providers, the options are now extremely varied. But the question remains, how do students showcase these skills and qualifications to potential employers and adequately demonstrate they can apply them? There is a lot of discussion currently about Learner profiles in schools and platforms where students can upload verified microcredentials and skills etc. However, I question how long these platforms remain relevant for young people. A #LinkedIn profile, on the other hand, can grow and develop as skills and experience do. If we can educate young people on the ways in which they can successfully articulate their education, skills, experience and achievements on LinkedIn, and show them the possibilities for research, connection, engagement and collaboration, it allows them to get a jump start on their career or entrepreneurial ventures. Let's make the most of what already exists, and what can be most useful for young people moving forward! #LinkedInforstudents #students #microcredentials #upskilling #careers #studentpathways #careerdevelopment #skillsandtraining

A fantastic start to 2024 with a Digital Brand Building + Linked workshop with Principal Andree Rice and the leadership team at Our Lady's College Annerley. Andree wanted to upskill her team on #LinkedIn and give them the tools to build their professional brand online, showcase their specialist areas and skills and talk about the work they're doing with students. Giving leaders and educators these skills enables them to act as ambassadors for the school and allows for broader organic promotion via the people who know it best. Attracting top teaching talent, boosting enrolment numbers and opening doors to industry partnerships are added bonuses when schools empower their staff to use LinkedIn effectively. Thanks to the team at Our Lady's College for being a highly engaged and enthusiastic group! #digitalbrandbuilding #professionaldevelopment #teacherpd #teacherworkshops #schools #educationalleadership
