Google maps
Armyofone66. I seen your post but it was two years ago that you posted. If you see this I never seen google maps like you said. I am not getting on you but that sounds like the maps on phones or the car map things that went into cars when it almost first started and they where hard lol and that was many years ago. It would tell me to turn right and if I did I would have had to go though a corn field. I can not count the time it told me to turn and there was no road or you be turning in to someone’s drive way and it would say go straight but if I did I would be driving in the back yard and in to the woods or some other crazy place. . I went to see my oldest daughter and it having happened a few time telling me to turn the wrong way and when it said I was there I was 3 or 4 blocks away and someone came out of the house where it said my daughter lived. I think you had a faulty device or something. It you see this I hope you are ok and are enjoying life. I never thought I that would happen to you two years ago
Google Maps Declining
Didn’t think I’d be writing a review about an app but there’s a first for everything right ? However the main reason that I’m writing this review is because of the unnecessary rearranging and removal of features. Not only just for this situation in particular but for all apps and social platforms in general. Anyways, there’s this feature tab called “go” or once was that was within the maps app along with the “updates” tab which have been removed from the main page and now merged with the “You” tab which is quite inconvenient as the point of the “go” tab was to quick start a prioritized saved direction. Now it takes 4 steps to even open that same direction up and it doesn’t auto start now. I truly don’t understand the point of app developers making user experiences difficult when navigating the internet, social platforms, and media nowadays. The whole point was to have easy user access and abilities but for the name sake of “bug fixes”’ app developers change and rearrange media interfaces and designs for no reason. Furthermore Google can’t even get the time frames of ETAs or even map orientation correct. Then the constant updates every 5 minutes my gosh! The most recent OS Update was 4 days ago from this date. Just now an update just released again after updating this app already. I don’t get it. I might as well head back over to Apple Maps.
Progressively gone downhill
The changes that Google has made to their maps seems to be in favor of traffic CONTROL rather than the best routes for the individual user, less options for personal control and a stronger push towards getting you to go through state toll roads when no toll roads (that are a faster option to boot) are available. I'm a longtime user of Google maps and Keen to their tactics of late. I've been wanting to get a couple of old Rand McNally road maps for a while,we're going to need them! An app should be a tool of assistance and yes, convenience, but when an app is trying to control you,it's time to boot it. This may sound crazy to some of you,but pay attention, especially to the so called "better route available" options that pop up,watch your estimated times, this option is being used to herd you like cattle for reasons other than your travel benefits and more for clearing roadways and such. And even crazier,it sure seems like a social experiment to see what kind of "order follower" you are. I've seen this with my own eyes and ears, so call me crazy, but for those of you who are intuitive and catch on to patterns quickly, see for yourself, this is the world we live in now? With all the A.I. And apps on your phone, what was a tool is using you as a tool,or so it sure seems. I think the cost of convenience has become a bit too high for me.
