I adore each and every one of them. I can’t believe 2,400 people have actively chosen to look at the random stuff I post.

literally my worst nightmare — a family member (my mother’s mother) is dying and my mom is currently out of the country and i can’t speak to her. my phone’s screen is 100% dead so i can’t call or text my mom at all. i managed to reach her via email so she’s aware of the situation but i have serious ptsd about situations like this from when my mom was very sick with cancer and i am not okay.
my mother and my grandmother don’t along and i’ve never really met my grandmother. but that doesn’t change the situation. this has triggered some serious shit and i should try to go to bed. i’ll be okay.
idk. i’m going to have a cigarette and try to sleep.
this is probably tmi. someone asked so whatever. i’ll be okay.

i think tumblr is a wonderful platform and is great at facilitating much needed discussions about a lot of social issues. the ability to manage one’s identity on the internet is a really important thing and is close to my heart, given my senior thesis, and i think tumblr is fascinating in that way. i worry sometimes that it’s too insular of a community.

Ohman, that is SUCH a good and difficult question. I think it’s probably a tie between “Turkish Oil Wrestling Is A Totally Legit Sport” and “The 30 Best Dogs Of 2012."
That being said, there are a bunch of other posts I made that I really really love, including ”54 Beautifully Offensive Desktop Wallpapers“ and ”15 Gorgeous And Unusual Birds,“ my personal favorite from back when I was posting as a Community member before I was hired.

Ahhh, anon. First off, thanks for the birthday wishes! Secondly, that’s a really tough position to be in. I’m from the south and I’ve been faced with the same situation many times. The advice I can offer you is this: point it out every time your friend says something like that.
By not saying anything, you’re tacitly endorsing it. If she’s really your friend, she’ll be open to hearing what you’re saying. If she says something even vaguely racist, TELL HER. POINT IT OUT. Try to explain how what she’s saying is just plain wrong. A lot of people are genuinely ignorant, especially if they come from a background of white privilege.
Any if she objects or continues to say racist things? You don’t need a friend like that.
