This database contains Freedom of Information and Privacy complaint, review or other decisions made on or after the 1 November 2010 by the Australian Information, Freedom of Information or Privacy Commissioners under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 Parts III, VII, VIIB, VIII or the Privacy Act 1988 Part V. The decisions in this database are selected and provided by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) on a periodic basis.
Privacy determinations made prior to 1 November 2010 are available in the closed Federal Privacy Commissioner of Australia Complaint Determinations database.
The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) also publishes selected case notes of decisions made under delegated authority and Commissioner initiated investigation reports that have not resulted in a determination under section 52 of the Privacy Act 1988 and which provide further information about the OAIC's interpretation of legislation. These are available in the Australian Information Commissioner Case Notes (AICmrCN) database.
