Fluid 1.0 Available Now

3.5 years in the making, Fluid 1.0 is now available for download.

Fluid 1.0 is a complete rewrite of the Fluid codebase, based on the same code as Fake and Cruz.

Since Fluid 1.0 is a totally new app (and for this one-time-only), Fluid and Fluid Apps you’ve created with previous versions of Fluid cannot be updated via software update. To use the new version, you’ll need to download Fluid 1.0 and recreate your Fluid Apps. Sorry for the inconvenience, but this is necessary to get Fluid on a solid foundation for future improvements and feature additions.

Fluid 1.0 is Intel-only and runs on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard or later. Sorry, but Fluid 1.0 will not run on Leopard or PowerPC Macs.

Fluid 1.0 is still a free app. You can download and use it totally free as long as you like. You can use the free version of Fluid to create as many Fluid Apps as you like.

However, you can now purchase a Fluid License for $4.99 to unlock a few extra features:

  1. Create Fluid Apps with Separate Cookie Storage. (Preferences → Security → Cookie Storage)
  2. Pin Fluid Apps to the Mac OS X Status Bar. (Main Menu → Fluid App Menu → Pin to Status Bar…)
  3. Use Userscripts or Userstyles in your Fluid Apps. (Main Menu → Window → Userscripts)

Thanks for reading, and I hope you’ll all give Fluid 1.0 a spin!
